Welcome to Words Like Silver! Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by the Broke and the Bookish. Today’s topic is “On the Summer To Be Read List”. It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these but I’m going to talk about which books from BEA that I’m most excited to read. I hope you enjoy!
1. Venom by Fiona Paul
Okay this one is cheating. I’m about twenty pages away from the end and am DYING to finish it. Fiona Paul basically took everything I’ve ever wanted to see in a book and has made a mesmerizing read.
2. Prodigy by Marie Lu
The ending of Legend…not only that but both my brother and my English teacher are obsessed with this book so I’m really excited to let them read it after I read it. I’m itching to devour it.
3. Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor
This one is just the sampler (it’s about seventy pages) but this was on the top of my BEA list. I really really really can’t wait to read this one because it looks amazing! Daughter of Smoke and Bone captivated me.
4. Feedback by Robison Wells
Variant is one of my Hannah (my twin)’s favorite books. I got Variant from a trade and immediately she took it away to read and then told me that I had to read it afterwards. She was really excited that this was going to be at BEA and this was her one request that I get this book.
5. Rift by Andrea Cremer
I AM FANGIRLING! I missed the signing for this one so I was worried that I wouldn’t get to read it but I ended up getting a copy from Penguin later so I’m crazy excited for this one.
6. Fathomless by Jackson Pearce
I got this at TAC and met Jackson (I got a picture with her that I have been looking for excuses to post EVERYWHERE) so she signed my copy and it was wonderful talking to her. She’s hilarious and inspirational and her books are so well-written. They’re clean and complex and who doesn’t love a mermaid book?
7. Burn for Burn by Siobhan Vivian and Jenny Han
SIOBHAN VIVIAN IS AWESOME. The List made me cry and she completely gets teens! Not to mention, she as a person is just phenomenal. Partner her with JENNY HAN, author of the Summer series (which I loved), and what do you get? A book that I can’t wait to read.
8. Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin
I have heard nothing but praise for this one and I’ve been aching to get my hands on it! I finally got a copy at the Dark Days signing and I couldn’t be happier to read it!
9. Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake (audiobook)
I got the audiobook from the lovely Jill at AudioGo and I’ve heard great things about this one, but that you shouldn’t read it if you’re planning on sleeping anytime soon. I’m looking for my fix of horror and this seems like the perfect book to satisfy it.
10. The Candy Shop War: The Arcade Catastrophe by Brandon Mull
Fablehaven was one of my favorite books when I was younger and I nearly died meeting Brandon Mull. I was actually really nervous about getting this one because it was about ten minutes before I was supposed to leave for the airport so I was worried that I wouldn’t get it signed in time! Anyways, I’m ridiculously excited.
Great list! Maybe I should do this.. Than maybe those books will actully get read
I’m glad to hear Venom was so good! We should definitely have a trade; I’d love to read it. They did a sampler for DoSaB last year as well and it was a really great marketing strategy, I think. I love the cover for the sequel! I’m also going to be reading Burn for Burn and I’m a little sad it doesn’t have a definite romance like the summer books but meh. And I’m SO excited for Prodigy. A few people from BEA have already read it and HYPE OMG.
