Over the past month or so, I’ve gotten a lot of feedback from people who say that they love my long reviews and others who wish they were shorter. I’ve been thinking about it and I think I’ve discovered a way to make everybody happy without annoying any of my readers. I’m going to try a new style that I invented in a way, but influenced by Rachel at Fiktshun, who writes a “review” then her personal thoughts after the review.
My previous review style was a mix of the actual review and my personal thoughts so you had to read the entire thing to get my opinion of the book. I’m going to make it a little easier for people who enjoy shorter reviews and try out this one:
Actual Review (basic thoughts on the book/my overall opinion of it)
(about 500 words)
page break
This is where you can stop reading if you’re a shorter review kind of person. Click to keep reading and you would have a longer review by me.
If you would like my longer review with how the book impacted me, why it was important to me, what I got from the book, book club questions, “recommended for people who enjoyed” section, etc, you would continue reading.
(About 1000-1500 words)
Sorry if this is slightly confusing. I will be trying out this review style with The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. The review will be going up tomorrow. I hope y’all enjoy. Please comment and give me feedback on how I can improve my reviews or cater to you whether you enjoy shorter or longer reviews!
I get to read The Fault in Our Stars for school! Super siked! Can’t wait to hear what you thought!
